a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.

this is a piece of estonian underground musics history. more than 20 years ago, in estonia, hypnosaurus were pioneers of deep house and techno, the first ones to have gone with this new strange rhythmic music into the studio and into the dark basements of tallinn.the remix is by the strange and wonderful chicago producer hieroglyphic being. this is soul music of rusty funk-robots. for this remix he is said to have tried out new methods of dealing with sounds, switching them on and off.

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

the first liaison of those two guys might be entitled as a generation clash. young gun kitt bang became a famous munich resident dj in the past 10 years for instance at the famous zombocombo freaktheatre. the old dog enne spins and produces records since almost 30 years. he created and remixed tacks for labels like: compost, permanent vacation, nang, tirk, just to name a few. the miraculous - funky - weird - dance music on this 12inch is the result of plenty hours studio sessions by using minimoog, microkorg & similar analog devices, furthermore live guitar of guest musician simon i.t.c. with this 3 track 12 inch they tried to go a step beyond of the actual nu disco glut. to make it round we deliver a remix by migumatix (courtesy of freaktown records) a munich based shootingstar too.

edit king leo zero returns with something very special to kick off a new run of no frills dancefloor bombs that have been tried and tested over the summer on a packed worldwide dj schedule from stockholm to tokyo and beyond. first up is an intensive slice and dice exercise on probably the best track from definitely the best band in the world: the clash. leo takes their most disco friendly outing >the maginificent dance< famously spun by mr levan at the garage - and with the more dubby rare levan version he homes in on looped 1 bar sections, skating along to create a new arrangement - added to the brew are bootleg recordings form the clashes infamous live show at nycs bonds ballroom, and even some baseline demos digitally siphoned from people practicing guitar along to the clash on youtube!….. we are left with is an epic labour of love edit that has already found its way into the a-listers record boxes - from derrick carter to laurent garnier who are all spinning this solid as a rock dub disco bomb. on the flip we have a classy house re-work of al hudson & partners >music< which sticks a chi-town kick and snare up its rear end along with some serious sub bass, and in the middle things get all wobbly with some trademark leo zero space echo rides and before we are quickly warped back-in and onto the floor… big with a load of top jocks too including severino of horse meat disco fame.
